$70,000 in Scholarships to be awarded

The Mifflinburg Area Community Scholarship Trust is pleased to announce that $70,000 in scholarships will be awarded at the end of this school year. Fifty thousand dollars will be awarded to members of the Class of 2022. An additional twenty thousand dollars will be awarded to collegiate students that graduated from the Mifflinburg Area School District.

Any Mifflinburg senior that has been accepted or is planning to attend an accredited two-year or four-year institution or trade school is encouraged to apply. Since many of this year’s seniors are attending SUN Tech, taking college classes at Bloomsburg, or are participating in cooperative education, applications may be returned to the Guidance Office or by U.S. mail. Applications must be returned to the Guidance Office or postmarked by April 15, 2022. A MACST board member will obtain class rank and GPA information from the Guidance Department before the applications are given to the selection committee. Collegiate scholarship applications and transcripts are due to Michael Miller of Mifflinburg by June 1.

Applications are available from the high school guidance office or at this website. The three-page applications are Excel templates. Directions for completion and qualifications are found on page one of the applications. Senior winners will be announced at the Annual Senior Awards program and collegiate winners will be notified approximately July 1.

MACST Awards Ten Collegiate Scholarships in 2021

The Mifflinburg Area Community Scholarship Trust awarded ten $1,500 scholarships to previous graduates of the Mifflinburg Area School District who are currently attending college. These scholarships are in addition to the graduating high school senior scholarships totaling $43,000. The candidates have completed at least one year of college with a GPA greater than 3.0. They also must have at least one semester of college and/or graduate school remaining before they earn their degree.

Applicants did not need to receive a MACST scholarship as a senior to apply. Even though no winners are attending graduate school this year, Master and Doctorate Degree candidates are eligible.

This year’s collegiate scholarship winners are as follows: Representing the Mifflinburg Class of 2018 are Catherine Bergmueller – Acadia University, Emily Criswell – Susquehanna University, Thomas Lichtel – Pennsylvania State University, Heidi McNally – Pennsylvania State University, Logan Mensch – Bloomsburg University, and Elijah Yoder – Liberty University.

Scholarship winners from the Mifflinburg’s Class of 2019 were: Reagan Griffith – Bloomsburg University, Sarah Koch – Bloomsburg University, and Erin Rute – Susquehanna University. The 2020 Class representative was Christopher Rapson who is attending The Pennsylvania State University.

2021 MACST Scholarships Awarded to High School Seniors

Mifflinburg – The Mifflinburg Area Community Scholarship Trust, Inc. provided $43,000 in scholarships to Mifflinburg Area High School seniors. Seventeen members of the senior class were awarded of the scholarships during the Annual Senior Awards program.

The $3,000 Valedictorian Scholarship was awarded to John Darrup. Cabe Dressler received the $2,000 Salutatorian Scholarship.

Eleven special scholarships were awarded by the M.A.C.S.T.  The criteria for these designated scholarships were determined by the founding sponsors with the approval of the M.A.C.S.T. Board.  The special scholarships and winners are as follows. Colby Gessner earned both the Mifflinburg FFA Recognition and the Spangler/Turner Family Penn State Scholarships. Hannah Zechman was also awarded a Mifflinburg FFA Recognition Scholarship. Brooke Catherman earned the Christkindl Community Service Scholarship. Olivia Erickson and Brook Karchner each received a Rhoda K. Reidell-Fasano Scholarship. Cade Dressler was awarded the Charles Reidell Scholarship. Gabe Gramly was awarded the Robert Manotti Sr., Wrestling Award and John Darrup was presented the Kermit W. & Mary E. Dale & Sons Environmental Conservation Award. Abigail Greb was presented the H. Richard Ward MD and Devin Ward Scholarship. Jacob Reitz was first student to receive the annual George Burman Family Scholarship which is presented to a student that will be attending the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Thirteen members of the Mifflinburg Area High School Class of 2021 received M.A.C.S.T. scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,000.  Seniors receiving these scholarships were: Brooke Catherman, John Darrup, Cade Dressler, Camille Finerghty, Abigail Greb, Laura Hamm, Brook Karchner, Camryn Murray, Thomas Wagner, Cooper White, Jacob Young, Hannah Zechman, and Madison Zimmerman.

The Mifflinburg Area Community Scholarship Trust scholarships are available to any Mifflinburg Area High School senior planning to continue their education at a post-secondary institution. 2021 Scholarship Applications Available

The Mifflinburg Area Community Scholarship Trust Inc. will award $58,000 in scholarships this year. Forty-three thousand dollars will be awarded to members of the Class of 2021. Another $15,000 will be awarded to collegians who graduated from Mifflinburg.

Any Mifflinburg senior that has been accepted to an accredited two-year or four-year institution or trade school is encouraged to apply. Completed senior applications must be emailed as an Excel fie by April 15. Collegiate scholarship applications including a transcript copy are due to Michael Miller of Mifflinburg by June 1.
