Mifflinburg Class of 2025 Awarded Scholarships

The Mifflinburg Area Community Scholarship Trust, Inc. awarded $71,000 in scholarships to members of the Class of 2025. Twenty-four  Mifflinburg seniors were awarded the scholarships during the Annual Senior Awards program held on June 2 in the high school auditorium.

Class Valedictorian, Ella Robatin was awarded a $4,000 scholarship and Mary Knepp received the $3,000 Salutatorian Scholarship.

There were new perpetual scholarships offered by the Mifflinburg Area Community Scholarship Trust this year. The first was the Mifflinburg Band Booster Scholarship and it was presented to Hayden Reiff. The second was the Clayton Gessner Memorial Scholarship awarded to Benjamin Reitz. It is given to a senior athlete with an interest in music. The final new scholarships were the Watson Family Scholarships. They can be presented to students that will be entering a field of business or a SUN Tech student entering an automotive field. This year’s recipients were Madison Fohringer and Hayden Reiff.

A special 4-year MACST Scholarship is awarded for the best overall application regardless of GPA. This senior will receive a $2,000 scholarship for a total of four years. This year’s winner was Elizabeth Bierly.

The Beckley Family provided funds for two one-time scholarships. The Beckley Family Field Hockey scholarship was awarded to Calleigh Hoy and the Beckley Family Softball scholarship was presented to Madison Fohringer.

M.A.C.S.T. provides specialized perpetual scholarships with criteria designated by the founding sponsors that have been approved by the Board of Directors. The winners of these scholarships are as follows:  Kaitlyn Bridge – George Burman Pennsylvania School of Technology Scholarship, James Donlin – the Christkindl Market Community Service Scholarship, Kathryn Adamo – the Kermit W. & Mary E. Dale & Sons Environmental Conservation Scholarship, Faith Barton – Joslyn Flickinger Memorial Scholarship to a female athlete, Makenna Walter – the Robert Manotti Sr. Wrestling Scholarship, Benjamin Reitz – the Charles “Skeet” Reidell Scholarship for demonstrating excellence in athletics, academics, and leadership on and off the field, Teeanna Fogle – the Wagner Music Education Scholarship, and Mary Knepp – the H. Richard Ward, MD & Devin Ward Scholarship for medicine and/or the preforming arts.

The Mifflinburg Hose Company selects the winner of the Tod “Cleever” Steese Scholarship from a separate application. The recipient must have played basketball, baseball, or football and demonstrated leadership qualities. This year’s recipient was James Donlin.

Linley Hartman and Natalie Osborne were the recipients of the Griffith Family Scholarships that are presented to students entering a medical field of study. Two Rhoda K. Reidell-Fasano Scholarships were also presented. Andrew J. Blake received one for a student entering the field of education and Mary Knepp for a student entering the field of science or medicine.

Dallas Goodyear and Miranda E. Zimmerman were awarded the Mifflinburg FFA Scholarships. The Spangler/Turner Penn State Scholarships are awarded to students entering the fields of agriculture, engineering, or science at any Penn State Campus. This year’s recipients are Ella Robatin and Miranda E. Zimmerman.

Five students who are pursuing medical careers and completed a specialized application were awarded the Harold and Helen Evans Memorial Scholarship. The honorees were Kamdem Hockenbrock, Mary Knepp, Mekenzie Parrish, Kayla Pfeiffer, and Makenna Walter.

Eleven members of the Mifflinburg Area High School Class of 2025 received M.A.C.S.T. scholarships. Seniors receiving these were Kathryn Adamo, Ethan Allen, Andrew J. Blake, James Donlin, Dallas Goodyear, Mary Knepp, Natalie Osborne, Kayla Pfeiffer, Ella Robatin, Morgan Traver, and Alaina Yount.
